Ground Transportation

Safely back in the states since late Monday night & mentally ready to hit the ground running on some new projects (most of which are for the wedding). Physically I am struggling a little with grogginess & an irregular sleep schedule, so until I upload all of my pictures & document my Parisian flea market finds, purchases, & swag, I am easing back into everything with a simple post.

Every where I turned at both Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport & Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport, I spotted charcoal low top Chuck Taylors. Found this striped pair online today & would love to add both to my closet. Love my black pair & wear them all of the time.

5 Days in Paris

All packed & ready to go to France today. So so so excited.

I had planned on watching 2 Days in Paris last night in preparation of walking the streets of Paris, but I couldn't find it in the many boxes of DVDs & books in my closet. Gonna have to hunt it down when I get home, so I may relive every minute (& also enjoy Adam Goldberg's beard!).

Magic Numbers

Though it's currently boxed up with all of my kitchenwares until after the wedding, I could never forget this adorable teacup from Anthropologie. I'd love to get some of these Digit Spice Jars from Anthro to keep it company in said boxes for now (& for all of them to later share space in the Jones-Turner kitchen).

Sloughing Off Sickness

Been battling a flu-like cold for the past few days after contracting it from my younger brother which has kept me from working, blogging, & the like. Hoping to get back into full swing tomorrow since I was able to muster up enough energy to take a shower this afternoon (which is always a promising sign). Neutrogena's RainBath Gentle Exfoliating Creamy Oil Wash & Sugar Scrub Body Exfoliator in Energizing Citrus have me crazy addicted. If you're sick like me & need to reawaken your senses then purchase either or these (or both, right?). You'll continue to love 'em even when you're back to feeling one-hundred percent because they are perfect for pre-work rise & not-so-shining mornings or post kicked-in-the-butt workouts.

J'adore Paris?

Pretty sure that I will (it'll be my first time, but what's not to love?)! Found out a couple of weeks ago that I will be making a brief trip overseas for work. Ever since I have been daydreaming about my trip which has led me to think about all of the above. Two weeks from now I will be soaking it all in for real instead of living vicariously through fictitious characters & reality TV (a great way to start the new year). Cannot wait!

Unwrapped: Pleasantly Surprised

These items weren't on my list, so they made the best gifts because I didn't even see them coming. Highly recommend you get some of these for yourself, for others, or put them on your wish list pronto.

[2] The Options Gift Card from my Dad
[3] GAP Slipper Booties in Red from my Mom, no longer available online

[5] Starbucks Gift Card from Santa
[6] Double L Cotton, Cable Knit Cardigan in Hemlock, L.L. Bean from John's Parents
[7] L.L. Bean Boat Tote in Chocolate Brown Trim (& personalized too) from John's Bro & Sister-in-Law

Keeping Cozy

John got me this great Organic Down-Alternative Comforter from West Elm last year (talk about a bedding upgrade!) & ever since I have been wanting their Organic Cotton Pin-Tuck Duvet Cover + Shams in Clay. Thinking some of my Christmas cash may go toward finally securing this much desired purchase (a girl's gotta stay warm this winter).

Post-Holiday Pick Me Up

After all of the shopping, wrapping, feasting, toasting, unwrapping, feasting, & resting it may be a little tough to get out of bed in the morning to get back the everyday demands & humdrum. I've turned to my iTunes in order to fight off the holiday blues & to keep me from hitting the snooze button more than three times each morning. Here are some of my new favorite songs to get me going in the morning, to keep me going at the office, at the gym, & to keep me awake on my commute home.

[1] "Perfect for Me," off of Shwayze's "Let it Beat" Album (also love "Maneatrrr")
[2] "Put it in a Love Song," Alicia Keys duet with Beyonce on her new album "The Element of Freedom"
[3] "If We Ever Meet Again," Timbaland featuring Katy Perry
[4] "Somebody to Love," Leighton Meester feat. Robin Thicke
[5] LMFAO's "La La La" (it'll get stuck in your head
[6] "Dance in the Dark," on Lady Gaga's Fame Monster Album (& pretty much the whole album)

[7] "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes (not as upbeat, but very sweet; makes you reflect & appreciate)
[8] "Young Forever," Jay-z featuring Mr. Hudson
[9] The Avett Brothers' "Kick Drum Heart" & "Slight Figure of Speech" (among others on the album)

Download, upload, & turn up the volume because these will getcha goin'!

You Really Got a Hold on Me

Just made our first couple approved wedding purchase from CB2 (can't wait 'til we officially set a date, so we may start a registry with them). We will be using their chrome storage basket to house all of our wedding favors. The open weave chrome-plated steel will allow for our guests to get a look-see at the packaged mix CDs we are making for 'em prior to the reception's end when they get to take one for the ride home (or for the after party in their hotel rooms; no drinking & driving allowed!). Best part -- this doubles as a purchase for the home office I plan to set up in our first place.

Blingin' in the New Year

Big things happened for me in the past year -- traveled to China twice three times (oops!), got engaged to one of the greatest men I know, lovingly witnessed two of my best friends get married (to stand up guys at that), celebrated my two year work anniversary, started blogging (love it & can't believe it took me this long to start), welcomed the birth of John's second nephew, & recently congratulated my younger sister on her surprising engagement the night before Christmas Eve (engaged sisters!).

Ready for all that twenty-ten has in store for us. Happy New Year y'all!
