C'mon Baby Light My [Candle]

[1] Trix Candleholder, $4.95 from Crate & Barrel
[2] Beaker Glass Candleholder, $0.95 (!!!) from CB2
[3] Reflex Candle Tray, $79.95 $39.95 (watched it like a hawk just a'waitin' for it to go on sale) from CB2
[4] Piper Candleholders, $2.95-$3.95 from Crate & Barrel
[5] Clear-cupped Tealight Candles (Set of 12), $5.95 from CB2
[6] Whirly Hanging Candleholder, $3.95 from CB2

Above is the idea board that I created (when I was holed up in my hotel in China) to document all of the candleholders we want to incorporate into our wedding decor.

So far I've only ordered the Reflex Candle Tray & Clear-cupped Tealight Candles from CB2; it arrived yesterday & is crazy gorgeous. I'll admit that I didn't unwrap each tealight (there are thirty-six of them total!), but John & I will run a trial set up soon. Ideally I would love to incorporate it into both the ceremony decor as well as display it on one of the main tables in the ballroom during the reception. After the hitchin' & dancin', it'll make a great accent piece on our living room coffee table or perhaps it will reside on top of our (hopefully clutter-free) bedroom dresser.

Found the event tip from Tara Guerard in the most recent Martha Stewart Weddings Color Issue featuring pink (& I plan to follow said advice). You may follow Tara's advice as well (on Twitter), check out her site, purchase her book, or follow her blog

Women + Country

Lately I can't get enough of Jakob Dylan's latest solo release, Women + Country. The entire album is beautifully poetic. Top tracks to check out: "Down on Our Own Shield," "Yonder Come the Blues," "Holy Rollers for Love," "Smile When You Call Me That," & "Standing Eight Count."

While on his site, I noticed he was scheduled to play a show in Atlanta on May 17th, but it's been canceled (now I am curious as to why). Hopefully he'll make it out this way soon; I'd love to be in the audience.

Back In Black

Now that they're offering it in black, I officially want a Wii. It'd be a sleek way to stream my never-ending Netflix queue (next up on the list: The September Issue!).

Stuck on Stripes

Couldn't resist rounding out the week with one last ode to the gray & white stripe combo especially once I remembered spotting this cotton percale sheet set from West Elm a few weeks ago. If the previously mentioned bench gets ousted, I can definitely rationalize this stripe substitute; we are in need of new sheets & pillowcases (& these are simply sublime!).

Spellbound by Stripes

While we were in Hong Kong, I purchased some of these Paper Straws from Kikkerland (4 boxes of the gray/white striped ones!) for the bar at the wedding. Ever since then I have been crazy about everything with stripes. Hence my extreme love for the bench I featured yesterday. Now I will be on the hunt for these striped pencils that Heather of We Met in a Bar found in the dollar bin at Michael's.

Cinco de [Oh My!] o

So I am finally back from my longest overseas stint to date (about 3.5 weeks!). Time away gives one an opportunity to reflect on all of the things that matter most. Being back home after so long to enjoy said things is the best feeling. While I wasn't working, I was establishing some leads for more wedding vendors, establishing our wedding registries, & daydreaming about our first place.

Found this Dwell Upholstered Storage Bench in my blog reader thanks to a great Layers of Meaning, as per usual. I want, I need, I lust for this bench to be at the end of our bed in an apartment/condo/house that we have yet to find. John didn't share my same enthusiasm (a new TV is at the top of his list), so I may have to make this purchase happen pre-wedding. For now, it will simply end up in one of many inspiration folders.
